Alicia Machado was born Yoseph Alicia Machado in Maracay Venezuela on the 6th of December, 1976. Alicia is a multi-ethnic person. Her parents are both from Cuban heritage. She's been a prominent participant in the world of film, television as well as beauty contests throughout her career. Alicia Machado's rise to fame began when she was crowned Miss Venezuela in 1995 at the age of 19 as a representative of the State of Yaracuy. Machado was crowned Miss Universe 1996 one year after she was crowned Miss Venezuela. She became an unprecedented fourth Venezuelan winner of the title. The time she was Miss Universe however was marked with negative coverage by the media as well as controversy due to the fact that she gained weight.
