Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell, an American television chef and former Institute of Culinary Education instructor she is a popular TV host. She hosts her own Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network star with her trademark spikey blonde hair and exuberant personality, shares easy to learn techniques and eliminates intimidation of restaurants dishes in her show Secrets of a Restaurant. Chef Burrell worked in New York at top restaurants and studied the Italian culinary practices and the landscape. Also, she was a contestant on Iron Chef America on Food Network. Early on, while growing up in New York's upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America has sparked her interest in managing restaurants when she received the English and Communications degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I was a huge Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I enjoyed every moment." It was hard to study how to do, or even work hard enough. After graduating Chef Burrell lived in Italy for a whole year studying at an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Additionally, she worked at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin highly rated restaurant) located in Tuscany. While in Italy she was able to fully comprehend and appreciate the philosophy behind Italian culinary and cultural traditions that has had a profound impact on her culinary point of view. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to brighten children's lives who are facing challenges. She is also a Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity Ambassador which promotes the awareness of children with diabetes. She has been a frequent speaker at conferences and travels across the nation in her mentorship role. Anne has always been grateful she could share the passion of her life, sharing her cooking skills with other people.
